Job Description: Freelance Outdoor Instructor (Level 2 Kayaking)

 

Location: Waterford, Ireland

Contract Type: Freelance / Contract

Duration: Summer Season (June – August/September)

Rate: Competitive daily/hourly freelance rates, commensurate with experience

 

Role Overview:

We are seeking qualified and enthusiastic Freelance Outdoor Instructors to deliver high-quality paddle sports sessions. 

 

Based in the scenic waters of County Waterford, this seasonal role focuses on introducing participants to kayaking, developing their fundamental paddling skills, and ensuring a safe, memorable experience on the water.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Essential: 

• Kayaking Qualification: Canoeing Ireland (or equivalent, e.g., British Canoeing) Level 2 Kayak Instructor award (or higher).

• Safety Certification:Valid Rec Rescue / River Safety and Rescue (RSR) certification or equivalent.

• First Aid: Valid Wilderness First Aid (REC 3) or standard Emergency First Aid certificate.

• Safeguarding Up-to-date Safeguarding 1 (Child Welfare & Protection) certificate.

• Vetting: Successful completion of Garda Vetting.

 

Additional outdoor qualifications (e.g., Level 3 skills, SUP instructor, or Leave No Trace Trainer).

Personal Attributes:

•  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both children and adults.

• Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently as a freelancer.

• High level of physical fitness and comfort working outdoors in variable Irish summer weather conditions.
